UPDATE: Farmers’ Market Discount Cards Distribution

October 9 update: The VCAAA’s distribution of farmers’ market discount cards to low-income older adults is continuing, as three more sites have been added for the coming days.

Cards will be given out:

  • Saturday, Oct. 11, Camarillo Farmers’ Market (2220 Ventura Blvd.), 8 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 15, Midtown Ventura Farmers’ Market (3301 E. Main St.), 9 a.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 16, Thousand Oaks Farmers’ Market (350 E. Hillcrest Dr.), 11 a.m.

Additionally, the Downtown Oxnard Farmers’ Market has been added to the approved list of sites where the discount cards can be utilized.

VENTURA, California – The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, a division of the Human Services Agency, is starting its annual distribution of discount cards to be used at participating Farmers’ Markets. Adults over the age of 60 who are on a limited income and meet the eligibility guidelines may receive this free benefit.

Cards are only available while supplies last at each distribution point. They can be used to purchase up to $50 in fresh, nutritious, unprocessed, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs.

Participants may authorize someone else to pick up their discount card by completing and signing the SFMNP Proxy Form together. The signed form must be brought to the distribution site.

Distribution Schedule:

  • Simi Valley: Friday, Sept. 19, 9-11:30 a.m., Human Services Agency, 2900 N. Madera Road
  • Thousand Oaks: Friday, Sept. 19, 1-3:30 p.m., Human Services Agency, 80 E. Hillcrest Drive
  • Fillmore: Tuesday, Sept. 23, 9-11:30 a.m., Human Services Agency, 828 Ventura St.
  • Ojai: Thursday, Sept. 25, 12:30-3 p.m., HELP of Ojai, 370 Baldwin Road
  • Ventura: Friday, Sept. 26, 9-11:30 a.m., Human Services Agency, 4651 Telephone Road
  • Oxnard: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 9-11:30 a.m., Human Services Agency, 2901 N. Ventura Road

Look for the HSA Mobile Outreach Van parked outside these buildings.

Participating Farmers’ Markets:

  • Camarillo: 2220 Ventura Blvd. Saturdays, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Ojai: 300 E. Matilija St., Sundays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Thousand Oaks: 350 E. Hillcrest Dr., Thursdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Downtown Ventura: 200 Main St., Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Midtown Ventura: 3301 E. Main St., Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Saticoy: 11321 Violeta St., Sundays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

At an authorized market, look for farmers with a WIC/SFMNP sign.
